Garage Sale

We are having a garage sale this Saturday, April 4th, from 8am to 1pm. Lots of books, schoolbooks, TONS of clothes, toys, and misc.

Dad is starting his job as a forensic engineer today! He left very early this morning to drive to the office in St. Louis.

Don't worry, I have tons of pictures coming, but I download my pictures to the back computer and the internet isn't working on that, so I am on Dad's work computer and pictureless. :)

We're not doing school today- we are cleaning and packing. ;)

What we've been up to

1) Cleaning

Yup! We've been cleaning! We took this past week off of school to 'declutter' the house (putting things we won't need for a few months into storage). In the meantime, we have been figuring out just how many gazillion things need fixing.
Dad's been working very hard and doing an awesome job. He's repainted the laundry room and removed the grout from the front hall and kitchen. (We still have the three bathrooms and atrium to de-grout). We figured out that if you remove the grout and drop stuff on it before you replace the grout, the tiles will crack very, very easily. Dad is replacing two right now.

Our hardwood floor is being redone. Why couldn't we have done it a year ago, when we could have enjoyed it? It looks awesome. I never realized how bad a shape the floor was in until they redid it! The "floor guy" was over yesterday and today, sanding and doing all sorts of noisy stuff. :) We are not allowed to step on the dining room floor until tomorrow. Whatever he is doing to our floor has really bad fumes, so everyone camped out in the basement last night. Today we did "art day" at Lions Club Park to get away from the house and all the fumes. Since it is really hard to access the kitchen with the dining room blocked off, we got to eat breakfast at Waffle House!!! Yum....
Mom's recovering from her surgery really well, and though she isn't allowed to lift things, she has been directing all of us in the cleaning efforts. We drive her bonkers. ;) Right now she is taking a nap, or else I would be doing my math with her instead of blogging!!!
Oh! One last thing. Over Thanksgiving, when all the cousins were over at Grandma and Grandpa Rackers', I had taken some videos with my (awesome) video camera. I edited it and burned it to DVD, and just sent it off to Grandma and Grandpa in today's mail. Unfortunately it is too long to post on Blogger.
And, of course, I have had play practice. Dad quit the play (wah) but I'm still in it. I have some pictures that Carah (sp?) took on my camera to post, and I also have some videos of the policemen's numbers to download, edit, and post. That takes time and effort, however, and will probably not be posted for quite awhile. :)

Wentzville

Today we went to Wentzville to check out what it is like...
For those of you who haven't heard, we will probably be moving there. Dad got a job offer, he just told us three days ago. It's in the outskirts of St. Louis. I'm not sure whether to be crazily excited or morbidly sad. :) lol
So, here are a few things I learned from out visit:

1) Wentzville HAS HILLS. The boys were so horribly worried that there would be no hills. We have discovered that the phenomena that no one appreciates until it snows does exist up there, even though the hills are smaller. So, thankfully, our family has been saved from the horrible fate that comes from having no hills to torture yourself on bike rides with. lol.

2) The restraunt called Red Robin's has TV's in the bathroom. Why? I don't know. They also have a television in the floor. Covered with clear plasitc or something. Because, of course, everyone's greatest desire is to stand and look down and the little television world moving around beneath their feet.

3) Panera Bread is called St. Louis Bread Company! But only in St. Louis. Outside of St. Louis it is called Panera.
